Part of your course needs to take place in an operational food preparation environment.
You are required to complete a minimum of 8 hours in a suitable food preparation environment where you will be assessed on how well you demonstrate your skills.
While in the workplace you will be assessed in two ways:
1. Video Assessment - choose 1 of the options below:
a) Upload individual videos of you performing the required tasks in the workplace, OR;
b) Live video conference - You can demonstrate the required tasks directly to an assessor via a live video conference while you are in the workplace (approx. 30-45 mins).
2. Third-Party Observation Report
As part of the assessment process, you, the student, are required to work a minimum of 8 hours in a suitable food preparation environment. You must submit a completed third-party report from a workplace supervisor or suitable observer. This report will provide evidence of practical skills.
The workplace supervisor or observer is required to witness you perform each of the required tasks in a suitable food preparation environment over the course a minimum of one 8-hour work shifts or however many shifts required to make up the minimum of 8 hours, then record their observations on the form.
The form then needs to be signed by both you and the workplace supervisor then submitted for assessment.
As part of 5 Star Hospitality Training’s commitment to providing quality training, observers may be contacted by our trainer/assessors to verify that the information provided is true and correct.
Additionally, if the trainer/assessors have any questions about any of the information supplied they will contact the student directly to clarify before a statement of attainment is issued.
